Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers about choosing files, setting a size limit, and understanding compression, saving and purchases.
Using the app
How do I start?
Choose an image from Photos or a file from Files, enter the maximum size in KB or MB, then start compression. Review the size and warnings before saving or sharing the result.
What is the difference between KB and MB?
The app uses decimal units: one MB equals 1,000 KB. A 400 KB limit therefore equals 0.4 MB.
Do I need to create an account?
No. FitMyFile works without a user account. An Apple Account is needed only to purchase Pro or restore a purchase.
Does it work offline?
Yes, local file processing works without internet access. A connection may be needed to download a cloud file, save to the cloud, share externally, contact Support, or purchase or restore Pro.
How do I change the language?
Use the language icon beside About. Some system interfaces may appear in the iOS language.
Does FitMyFile run on Mac or Apple Vision Pro?
The current release is designed for iPhone. Availability on Apple Silicon Macs and Apple Vision Pro is disabled for this release.
Files and compression
Which formats are supported?
Version 1 supports JPG, JPEG, PNG, HEIC, HEIF and PDF. It does not support video, Office documents or archives.
What is the largest input file?
The maximum is 50 MB per file, with additional limits for image dimensions, PDF page count and device memory.
Is the original changed?
No. The original remains unchanged. The result is a separate copy and you choose where to save it.
Why was my target not reached?
The file may already be compressed or may require quality below the permitted limits. The app shows the best acceptable result with a clear warning and never claims it is within the limit when it is larger.
What if the original file is smaller than the limit?
If the original PDF file is smaller than the limit, the app does not create a new copy and asks you to use the original file. For images, behavior may vary depending on the format and output path; always rely on the size and status the app displays.
How do the three compression levels differ?
Higher Quality prioritizes detail. Balanced preserves dimensions first, then allows gradual resizing. Smallest Size prioritizes a smaller result within quality and safety limits.
Why does a PNG or screenshot barely shrink?
A PNG may already be optimized, and preserving pixels and transparency can limit the possible size reduction.
Does a PDF keep text and links?
Structural processing attempts to preserve them when the file permits. Converting pages to images requires your consent and may remove searchable text, links and interactive features.
Can every PDF be compressed?
No. A damaged, signed or active-content PDF, or one with specialized features, may not be processed. The limit is 300 pages for structural processing and 100 pages when converting pages to images.
What about a password-protected PDF?
Some files can be processed after the password is entered locally, if their permissions allow copying and editing. The result may be unencrypted, so review it before saving.
Where can I find the result?
It appears in the destination you selected, such as Files, iCloud Drive, On My iPhone, an available file provider, Photos for images, or your chosen share destination.
Why did an unsaved result disappear?
A result is temporary and normally expires after ten minutes if you do not save it. Select and process the original again; copies already saved outside the app are unaffected.
What is the difference between Saved and Sent?
Saved means iOS completed handing the file to your selected save destination. Sent means the share interface reported that the action was completed, but it does not by itself confirm delivery to the recipient or completion of cloud synchronization.
Privacy
Does FitMyFile upload my files to the internet?
No. The app processes files on your device and does not upload them to the app owner or a processing server. If you choose a cloud file or an external save or share destination, that service may use the internet under its own policy.
Does the app use advertising, analytics or tracking?
No. The app contains no advertising, tracking or third-party analytics SDK. If that changes, the policy and App Store disclosures will be updated before the change takes effect.
What stays stored on the device?
The app may store your language choice, limited use state and a bounded record of random result identifiers to avoid counting one result twice. It contains no file names, contents or locations.
Apple and purchases
Why are Pro purchase options unavailable?
If permanent activation is already active, purchase offers will not appear. If a monthly subscription is active, the monthly option will not appear, though permanent activation may still be offered. If Pro is not active at all, loading Apple’s products or their availability for sale may be temporarily unavailable.
How do I know the current Pro price?
Apple displays the current price, currency and subscription duration in the purchase interface before you confirm.
Does compression differ between monthly and permanent access?
No. Both remove the free-operation limit and use the same compression engines and quality and safety limits.
What does Apple process when I purchase or restore?
Apple processes payment, the Apple Account and transaction status under its policies. The app uses information Apple provides to verify entitlement on your device; the developer does not receive your card details.
Does deleting the app cancel the subscription?
No. Deleting the app does not automatically cancel a subscription. Manage or cancel renewal in your Apple Account settings.
How do I restore purchases or request a refund?
Use Restore Purchases in the app for an entitlement tied to your Apple Account. Submit refund requests to Apple under its policies and applicable statutory rights.
Support and contact
How do I access, correct or delete my support information?
Email fitmyfile@steve.pub. We may reasonably verify your identity and will respond within the period required by applicable law. Telegram is not an official privacy-request channel.
Terms and policies
Does the website use cookies?
FitMyFile currently adds no advertising cookies, tracking tools or third-party analytics. The site stores your language choice locally in your browser, which you can clear through site-data settings.
Which license agreement currently applies?
The Apple Standard EULA currently applies alongside the FitMyFile Terms of Use. The Custom EULA draft is internal, unpublished and not effective.
Can a minor agree to the Terms or purchase Pro?
A minor may use paid services or agree to the Terms only with a parent or guardian’s permission where required. The App Store age rating alone does not establish legal capacity to contract.
